School Extension 2006The popularity of LAMPS means that the school roll is nearly always full. The limited size of the buildings requires staff to make use of every square inch of space. In the past this made it difficult to provide an indoor play area for children in the Reception class. The new extension, built in Summer 2006, provides space for these foundation-stage activities as well as a much-needed enlarged cloakroom. This complements the facilities for outdoor play that have been developed in the school garden. The extension has been designed to be sympathetic towards the existing architecture, for example by re-using materials from the old porch. The extension was formally opened by John Hutton, MP for Barrow & Furness, on the 14th September 2007. After cutting a ribbon over the main door, he toured the school and garden, and was given an apple from one of the school apple trees. |
