Snow in March 2006

Around 15cm of snow fell in Lindal and Marton during the early hours of Sunday 12th March 2006. The sky remained grey all day, and snow continued to fall until early afternoon. Strong winds caused drifts of 60cm or more in the villages and surrounding countryside. A small amount of snow fell again on Monday. The staff and pupils of Lindal and Marton Primary School bravely struggled in to classes on Monday morning, whilst schools all around were shut for the day. The snow gradually melted away during the week.
