Gustav Klimt

The artist Barbara Wright has recently been working with each of the classes in the school, helping the pupils to produce artwork in the style of Gustav Klimt. Here is a selection of the work produced by Class 3.

Gustav Klimt came from a family of artisan-craftsmen. His father was a gold-engraver from a Bohemian peasant family. In 1876, aged 14, Klimt became a student at the Applied Art School in Austria. He quickly obtained commissions, and produced works of unprecedented force and originality. His works are characterised by brilliant colours and metallic paints, and include the use of real gold.
